General Assistance

The municipality of the Town of Bradford administers a General Assistance program to provide support for the poor in accordance with Title 22 MRSA § 4305. The municipal officers have adopted an ordinance establishing this program, and a copy of the ordinance is available for public inspection at the town office. Additionally, copies of the State’s General Assistance Statutes are available for inspection, provided by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.

Applying for General Assistance

Individuals wishing to apply for General Assistance may do so at the Bradford Town Office by appointment only. Please contact the office to schedule an appointment.

Emergency Assistance

In case of emergency, applicants may contact the Sheriff’s Department at 207-945-4636 and leave a message for Chris Reardon, the Bradford General Assistance administrator. The municipality’s General Assistance administrator is required to issue a written decision within 24 hours of receiving an application.
